Reiki is a Japanese Energy Healing Technique which channels universal life force energy. Reiki is understood to be the energy of pure, uncontaminated love.
Reiki can help animals release emotional blockages, restore their natural harmony, and support their emotional well-being.
The effects of Reiki are cumulative.

FAQs
Discover More About Distance Reiki for Animals
What is Distance Reiki for animals?
Distance Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice that helps improve your pet’s emotional wellbeing from afar. The Reiki practitioner channels healing energy to support your animal’s mood and balance.
With Reiki energy healing, it is not required that the animal and the Reiki practitioner are in the same space. Energetically, Reiki reaches the animal regardless of distance, through the practitioners intention and use of specific Reiki symbols which create a link between the practitioner and the animal.
Reiki practitioners don't diagnose, fix or treat.
Reiki offers the animal emotional support so that they feel heard, seen and appreciated, which enables their nervous system to shift into the parasympathetic mode which enhances the effectiveness of other treatments they are receiving.
How does Reiki help my animal?
Reiki is a meditation practice that helps animals relax, so that their whole system softens, and in this space healing shifts can happen naturally. Reiki can assist in calming anxious or stressed animals, aiding in recovery, and enhancing overall happiness. It offers a peaceful, non-invasive way to nurture your animal’s emotional and energetic balance. Animal Reiki focuses on supporting your animals emotional needs, whatever situation they find themselves in. Animals can generally let go of stress, trauma and drama much quicker than humans, which is part of what makes Reiki so effectice for them.
How does Animal Reiki differ from Human Reiki?
Human Reiki involves people lying still on a bed, with the practitioner using their hands to guide Reiki energy through the person's energetic field and body. Animal Reiki allows animals free movement, and gives them autonomy over how to enage with Reiki energy. The practitioner enters a meditative state and offers Reiki, and the animal determines how best to make use of it. Animal Reiki is less directive, and therefore far gentler, and better accepted by animals than standard Reiki.
How will I know it's working?
You may notice your animal become more relaxed, or at ease. They may go to sleep, or they may go and drink or eat. You might notice less tension in their body, and more overall calm.
Can I help?
Absolutely! You may choose to be in the same space as your animal as they are being offered Reiki, imagine your heart and theirs connected by a golden light and love travelling through this light between you both. This can strengthen the bond between you and your animal, and further aid their overall well-being.
Will I feel anything?
If you are open to receiving Reiki, you may feel a relaxing sensation come over your body too. Some people experience it a warm or tingly sensation. Or you may notice that you are feeling calmer, and less tense in your body. Some people find it easier to be present, and experience life moment by moment rather than being caught up in their own head.
I'm skeptical..
That is understandable. In the west, the energy body and energy healing is not well known. This may be your first time hearing about it, or experiencing the movement of energy. I invite you to bring curiosity to the experience, and if it doesn't feel right for you, that's okay too. Being skeptical won't interfere with the healing benefits of Reiki :)
I want to know more about your Reiki training
I completed my first 3 Reiki certificates with Jade at Green Heart Healing space. This was the system of Reiki first taught by Mikao Usui, for humans. Subsequently I completed the 'Let Animals Lead' Reiki healing (Level 1 and 2) which is the original Reiki method adapted to the treatment of animals, by Kathleen Prasad.
As part of Reiki training, practitioners are initiated to Reiki energy, which means that they are attuned to that particular frequency. This, in combination with regular meditation practice, is what allows us to channel Reiki and share it with other beings.
Do you have a Code of Ethics?
Yes, I follow the below Code of Ethics which forms part of the 'Let Animals Lead' Reiki method.
The following Animal Reiki Practitioner Code of Ethics is copyright © Kathleen Prasad. All rights reserved. Reproduced with permission.
Guiding Principles:
• I believe the animals are equal partners in the healing process.
• I honor the animals as being not only my clients but also my teachers in the journey of healing.
• I understand that all animals have physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects to which Reiki can bring profound healing responses.
• I believe that bringing Reiki to the human/animal relationship is transformational to the human view of the animal kingdom.
• I dedicate myself to the virtues of humility, integrity, compassion, and gratitude in my Reiki practice.
In working on myself, I follow these practices:
• I incorporate the five Reiki Precepts into my daily life and Reiki practice.
• I commit myself to a daily practice of self-healing and spiritual development so that I can be a clear and strong channel for healing energy.
• I nurture a belief in the sacred nature of all beings and in the value and depth of animal kind as our partners on this planet.
• I listen to the wisdom of my heart, remembering that we are all One.
In working with the animals, I follow these guidelines:
• I work in partnership with the animal.
• I always ask permission of the animal before beginning, and respect his or her decision to accept or refuse any treatment. I listen intuitively and observe the animal’s body language in determining the response.
• I allow each animal to choose how to receive his or her treatment; thus each treatment could be a combination of hands-on, short distance, and/or distant healing, depending on the animal’s preference.
• I let go of my expectations about how the treatment should progress and/or how the animal should behave during the treatment and simply trust Reiki.
• I accept the results of the treatment without judgment and with gratitude toward Reiki and the animal’s openness and participation in the process.
In working with the human companions of the animals, I will:• Share information before the treatment about my healing philosophy, the Reiki healing system, and what to expect in a typical treatment, as well as possible outcomes, including the possibility of healing reactions.
• Provide a clear policy ahead of time regarding fees, length of treatment, and cancellation policy, as well as a “postponement” policy, should the animal not want the treatment that day.
• Never diagnose. I will always refer clients to a licensed veterinarian when appropriate.
• Honor the privacy of the animals and their human companions.
• Share intuition received during Reiki treatments with compassion and humility for the purpose of supporting their understanding of the healing process.
• Respect the human companion’s right to choose the animal’s healing journey, selecting the methods, both holistic and/or conventional, that he or she deems most appropriate, with the support and advice of a trusted veterinarian.
In working in the community, I hold the following goals:
• I model the values of partnership, compassion, humility, gentleness, and gratitude in my life and with the animals, teaching by example.
• I work to create professional alliances and cooperative relationships with other Reiki practitioners and teachers, animal health-care providers, and animal welfare organizations in my community.
• I strive to educate my community in its understanding of the benefits of Reiki for animals.
• I continually educate myself to maintain and enhance my professional competence so that I uphold the integrity of the profession.
• I consider myself an ally to the veterinary and animal health community. I work tosupport their efforts in achieving animal wellness and balance. I honor other disciplines and their practitioners
How much Reiki does my Animal need?
Anna follows the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki, developed by Kathleen Prasad. Session frequency is always guided by the individual animal and their unique situation. In general, animals with chronic or serious conditions may benefit from more frequent sessions, while minor concerns often respond well to weekly sessions. Reiki can also be offered before and after surgery, and gentle daily sessions may provide comfort for animals receiving hospice support. Many families also enjoy sharing Reiki together, as a peaceful presence can support both animals and the people who love them.
I acknowledge Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities.
I pay my respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
